Description: This wasn’t quite the start that we were looking for to kick off our hiking training season!

After a nice walk up Djouce in cold but dry conditions, our party of fifteen made our way back down the mountain towards Glensoulan Valley. By way of a complete freak accident, Lorraine slipped on some timber and fell awkwardly on her foot breaking both her fibula and tibia bones. Within 90 minutes, we had her air-lifted out by Mountain Rescue to Beaumount Hospital.

A big “Thank You” to everyone who helped out that day : Mountain Rescue, the Irish Coast Guard Helicopter and Alex Cronin.

Roll Call: Ann-Marie, Ciara, Darren, David, Derek, Eoin, Grainne, Lorraine, Maria, Mark, Neil, Peter, Shane and Tommy.
Distance: 12km | Ascent: 650m
