Melanoma Trust

In Memory of Sharon Rice O’Beirne

Thanks for all the Support!

A big thank you to everyone for all the support as Peter and Eugene take on their Trans Canada Adventure!

A special big thank you goes out to Eoin Reilly for all his help on setting up “Where Is Grandad Now?” webpage, twitter and linking everything together…and working for long hours with dad trying to see where live feeds from the GPS could link in to! Eoin has always given so much time and effort, into running this page, and all the hikes and fundraisers over the last 7 years. A big thanks Eoin from the family.

Walk the Last Kilometre of the Wicklow Way

Plans are being put together a ’surprise’ welcome home Peter and the Gang at around 3.30-4.00pm in Marlay Park this Sunday, (15th of May 2011). If you would like to lend your support and walk the final kilometre of the Wicklow Way with the gang then you can park in the main car park of Marlay Park and follow the Wicklow Way signs to the exit point of the park and await the group to arrive.

Please feel free to bring the kids! The weather forecast is predicting sunny spells and showers, so make sure to have sunscreen on and to also be prepared for rain! (more…)

La Roche - Posay’s Melanoma Awareness Campaign 2011′.

Every year, La Roche-Posay drive May Melanoma Awareness Month in Ireland and together with the support of the Irish Cancer Society and the Melanoma Trust¹ the campaign grows each year to raise awareness and to help prevent increasing cases of skin cancer in Ireland.

1. The Sharon Rice O’Beirne Melanoma Trust was set up in memory of Sharon, who on the 2nd of February 2008 lost her brave battle against Melanoma Skin Cancer. The aim of the Trust is to bring about an awareness of this potentially fatal disease and to help fund Irish research in this particular area. Sharon’s great strength and positive attitude throughout her illness has encouraged her family & friends to try and promote awareness of this devastating disease to more people who are potentially at risk.
